Father’s Day is a special time to let the dads in your life know that they are loved and valued. However, sometimes it’s hard to know the best way to celebrate them. We’ve come up with some tips to help you brainstorm Father’s Day celebration ideas for this weekend, keeping in mind that things may look a bit different this year due to COVID-19.
Make your dad the center of attention for the day.
Because Father’s Day is all about celebrating and focusing on the important role that fathers play in our lives, let dad tell you know he would like to be recognized. Ask him how he would like to spend the day and help make it a reality. Maybe this looks like going on a hike, watching his favorite movie, and eating his favorite dessert. Letting your dad have the spotlight for the day can be a great way to help him feel celebrated and loved!
Plan Father’s Day movie night.
Another great Father’s Day celebration idea is to plan a family movie night and let dad pick the movie. Make some fun movie-themed snacks to go along with the night!
Cook dad’s favorite meal.
This Father’s Day, cook your dad’s favorite meal! Whether it’s breakfast in bed, a nice dinner, or a delicious dessert, this is a great way to show dad your appreciation!
For partners – Work together with your kids to create a memory book.
Ask your kids to think of their favorite memories with dad and work together to represent them using words, photos, and drawings. Then, put them together into a memory book. This can look like a scrapbook or virtual photo book. Get creative with it and have fun!

Recently, technology has become a much bigger part of our lives due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is especially true for learning. Encourage your kids to continue learning this summer through playing computer games!
Try using some of these great resources:

One of the best ways to promote learning is to help kids find their passion and explore their interests. This can teach them to discover the beauty and excitement in learning. This might look like doing a mini research project, writing a story, or learning an instrument.

Learning new skills can not only be fun and exciting, but it can help promote critical thinking and problem solving skills. Try activities like cooking/baking, gardening, woodworking, or even caring for a pet! There are lots of life skills that we can teach our kids to help them build confidence and responsibility and feel proud of themselves.

Reading is one of the best ways to promote learning, and it can also be lots of fun! With the restrictions of COVID-19, reading can also be a great way for kids to visit new worlds and meet new people using their imaginations. Getting to know a character and reading about a cool new place can be fun and exciting, while also building vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. Let your kids choose books that interest them and encourage them to read a little every day!
